Why Hidayah?
Hidayah Psychotherapy & Counselling Services aims to provide a safe space for clients to access therapeutic services that are culturally and spiritually influenced. The goal is to help you understand your unique challenges and reconcile them with your faith, in whatever capacity it holds in your life. Therapy is offered in a welcoming and non-judgmental space, where clients are encouraged to speak truth to their experiences and difficult life circumstances.
The word Hidayah comes from the root word “hada”, which means “to guide”. From an Islamic perspective, muslims believe the ultimate guide is God, Allah, Al-Hadi - The Guide. We all need a guide. Whether that guide be a family member, a book, a coach, or a great friend, guidance is one of the major developmental requirements of all human beings. Much like hidayah leads one to spiritual enlightenment, therapy serves as a guide to mental and emotional well-being. Just as hidayah illuminates the path to righteousness and sincerity, therapy can illuminate the path to personal growth and resilience. My ultimate hope is that I can be a means of guidance throughout your healing journey, leaving you with a renewed sense of understanding, acceptance, and ultimately transformation.
My Approach
I connect collaboratively with clients as they work to process and cope with relationship and attachment concerns, major life stage transitions, and the effects of childhood trauma, all from a client-centred, holistic approach. My therapy approach integrates the mind, body, and spirit, and I make space for clients to discuss spirituality and religion in therapy, as the impact of trauma on the soul is often an ignored but very crucial aspect of processing and healing from a holistic perspective.
